Samuel Eto’o: People can say I came to Anzhi for the €20-million salary, but I didn’t!

Anzhi star Samuel Eto’o, one of the highest paid footballers in the world, revealed the motives behind his move to Makhachkala.

«A lot of people are saying that Eto’o came to Dagestan for the money – €20 million a year. But that’s not it! I made this choice because it is a new experience, another adventure. I want to show my supporters – particularly the African youths – that they can achieve great things and earn a lot of money,» the former Inter and Barcelona star explained.

«I notice that a lot of young players from the African continent don’t have a dream, they just think about today. They are afraid of the future. I feel that the project we are working on in Makhachkala can inspire a lot of people,» added the Cameroon international striker, speaking to radio RFI.
