Guus Hiddink: I don’t intend to leave Eto’o on the bench
Anzhi manager Guus Hiddink commented on his side’s goalless draw against CSKA Moscow on Saturday and insisted he will not leave star striker Eto’o on the bench, despite the Cameroonian’s five-game goalless streak.
«We defended well today, not just the defenders, but midfielders too. We created chances at the other end, but lacked focus. Still, I’d say that we lost two points today, rather than gained one,» the Dutch manager told Sports.ru
«As for Eto’o, he works hard in training, so we will continue to support him and I won’t replace him,» Hiddink added.
Earlier the former Russia and Turkey manager, speaking to Sovetsky sport, admitted that the coaching staff are concerned by the Cameroon striker’s dry spell.
«Irrespective of the fact that he is the highest paid footballer in the league, Samuel could be more productive in front of goal. So we will make sure that his teammates would try to set him up more often in the next few games,» Hiddink said.
