RFU considering the «golden game» proposal for next season

The Russian football authorities are contemplating the proposal a so called «golden game» – a title decider, when two top sides are even on points – for the next season of the Russian Premier League, the RFU head Sergey Fursenko stated on Thursday.

«We are negotiating the idea of introducing the «golden game» in the cases when league leaders are even on points. It is a sensible idea and I doubt that even our opponents will be against it,» Fursenko told R-Sport.

«While the Champions League qualification process should stay the same, we are considering a playoff system for the Europa League spots. Six teams could be involved in the playoffs. It will make Russian football more entertaining and competitive, but I hope these discussions will continue,» he added.
