Vitaly Mutko: The new Saint-Petersburg arena capacity will reach 69 000

Russian sports minister Vitaly Mutko commented on the progress in the construction of Zenit St. Petersburg’s new home stadium.

«I am constantly in touch with the local administrators, just last Tuesday we discussed the possibility of joint financing for the project. The federal budget covers around 30% of the cost, another 30% will be allocated out of the local budget and the rest will be up to the sponsors,» the minister stated.

«Originally the stadium was intended to hold around 62 000 people, but the project has been revised with the WC-2018 semi-finals in mind, so now the planned capacity will be 69 000. Once all the paperwork is sorted, the construction will resume,» Mutko added, quoted by Sports Daily.
