Ukraine team physio: Dikan will miss Euro-2012

Ukraine national team physio Vycheslav Popov confirmed goalkeeper Andrey Dikan, who sustained an injury in Spartak Moscow’s defeat to Zenit, will miss the upcoming European Championships in Poland and Ukraine.

«We are departing for Moscow now and will consider the extent of his injuries upon a closer examination,» said the medic.

«However, a broken cheekbone, broken jaw and a concussion are all very serious injuries. In such cases the player usually remains in hospital for a month, and he will require at least another month to recover.»

«Will he recover in time for the Euros?»

«Definitely not. His recovery could take as long as six months, so he will miss the Euro,» Popov admitted, quoted in Today.ua.
