SI: Anzhi to spend incredible €300 million on transfers this summer
Big-spending Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala are set to invest in the region of €300 million on the transfer market over the next three seasons, starting next summer, Sports Illustrated claims.
According to the magazine’s report, the aim of this immense spending spree is to establish the club in the European elite and make it a Champions League regular in the next few years.
Team director and former club captain Roberto Carlos will be given the role of the mastermind in the search for the right players and the negotiation process.
«Everybody wants to come here now,» Carlos was quoted as saying by SI. «They understand that there is money to be made.»
The report also suggests that a number of agents, representing some of the top players in Europe, have offered their clients to Anzhi this winter. Among them were Chelsea duo Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard, as well as Carlos Tevez.
