Reports: Sneijder turned down Zenit on last day of transfer window in favour of summer EPL move

Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder turned down a lucrative offer from Russian champions Zenit St Petersburg in the last few hours of the Russian transfer window, a report on Goal.com claims.

According to the website, with the Gazprom-backed Russian club tabled a «staggering» offer in a bid to lure the 27-year-old Dutchman to Saint-Petersburg.

But the Dutchman decided to reject the tempting offer as he is understood to have set his sights on a move to England.

«They [Zenit] were prepared to go really far in order to sign me,» Sneijder reportedly claimed. «There was absolutely nothing wrong with their offer. However, I don’t think this is the right moment for me to leave Inter.»
