Andrey Arshavin: We tried to catch CSKA on the counter-attack

Zenit St. Petersburg midfielder Andrey Arshavin commented on his side’s 2-2 draw in the Russian Premier League against CSKA Moscow.

«We got off to a good start, scoring on the first minute. Soon we could have been 2-0 up, but were unlucky. We have to give credit to CSKA: they management to bounce back from the early goal and kept going, playing their football and attacking,» the Russia captain, on loan from Arsenal, told his official website.

«We tried to catch them on the counter, sending long balls forward from our own half. There were four goals in the match, so it was entertaining for the fans. The atmosphere on the pitch was rather tense, there were some clashes, but generally the players treated each other with respect. A draw was a logical conclusion to the game. We would have liked to see more people in the stands, but the weather was cold, so I guess people preferred to watch the game at home or in a pub with their friends,» the player added.
