Milan’s Gattuso: It’s curious to observe CSKA manager Slutsky on TV
AC Milan veteran midfielder Gennaro Gattuso admitted he follows the Russia Premier League on TV and shared some thoughts about the league in an interview to the Sport Weekend newspaper.
«I try to follow the news in Russian football. For instance, I heard about Danny’s injury, which was covered by the Italian press as well.»
«Could you be considering a move to Russia, perhaps?»
«No. But I had that option last year, when Anzhi tempted me with their offer.»
«And what do you think about your countryman Spalletti’s Zenit?»
«He is an excellent manager. Everyone in Italy knows that. He is constantly linked with a return to Seria A, and I wouldn’t be surprised if eventually one of the Italian sides snaps him up.»
«What other coaches do you know in Russia?»
«It would be sad to see Berdyev leave Kazan. I read that he had a falling out with the club’s board. Another manager that appeals to me is CSKA Moscow boss… Slutsky, is that right? It is curious to watch him on TV.
«What do you make of Spartak’s Valery Karpin?»
«He was a brilliant player, well known across Europe. But being both the head coach and the executive director of a club like Spartak – that is rather odd. It wouldn’t happen in Italy on such a high level.»
