Zenit St. Petersburg ace Danny out for eight months with a knee injury

Miguel Danny, Zenit St.Ptersburg’s Portuguese playmaker, will remain on the sidelines for around eight months after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

«I knew something wasn’t right on Sunday, my primary feeling was that the injury is very serious. I felt a strong pain in my right knee. I spoke to the manager before going in for the scan, and he must be very sad at the moment,» the 28-year-old told the press, adding that it was the same kind of injury he got three years ago.

As a result of this injury the Portugal international will miss the rest of the club’s Champions League campaign and his country’s games at the forthcoming European Championship.

«This is a big loss for the national team,» Portuguese FA director Joao Pinto told Antena 1. «We were counting on Danny’s quality and it is with great sadness that I learned about his situation.
