Rummenigge: My friendship with CSKA president hinders me from signing Doumbia

Bayern Munich executive director Karl-Heinz Rummenigge explained why the German club wouldn’t be going after the prolific CSKA Moscow striker Seydou Doumbia in the near future.

«Mister Giner [CSKA president] doesn’t have to worry: we are not in contention for Doumbia’s signature. I am good friends with the CSKA boss and when I have such a tight relationship with another club president, I would never purposefully try to weaken their club,» the former German international told Sport Express.

«In fact, in the run up to the Champions League Final 16 draw I told my colleague that we would love to face them at a later stage of the tournament. If both clubs are lucky enough to proceed to the next stage, it would be magnificent.»
