Eto’o national team ban cut down to five matches
The Cameroon football federation (FECAFOOT) has reduced the 15-match ban imposed on Cameroon forward Samuel Eto’o to five matches.
Earlier it had been reported that the ban had been reconsidered after the meeting of Cameroon’s prime minister with FECAFOOT board. After eleven hours of talks in Yaounde, the federation’s executive committee announced its decision.
«We want to revive this team that has lost its soul. We want discipline, and we need all the players who can help the team,» said Antoine Essomba Eyenga, FECAFOOT executive committee member.
The federation also retained the two-match suspension of Eyong Enoh of Ajax, but cancelled the €1.500 fine imposed on Tottenham’s Benoit Assou-Ekotto.
Eto’o was banned in December after he arranged the boycott of the friendly game against Algeria by Cameroon players.
