Rubin sign Finland’s Alexey Eremenko from Metalist, close to signing his brother Roman from Dynamo Kyiv
The 28-year-old midfielder of Metalist Kharkiv and Finland national team Alexey Eremenko signed a three-year contract with Rubin Kazan. His brother Roman is also on the brink of moving to Kazan from Dynamo Kyiv for €13 million.
«I am happy to return to the Russian league after two years. And not only to return, but to also join one of the best teams in the country, a truly great club. I am also happy that I will play toghether with his brother Roman.
«I had options to continue my career in England and Scotland, but I’ve been waiting for the offer from Russia until the end, as I have always wanted to play at home. During the two years I was missing from Russia I became wiser and more experienced. The Scottish school has taught me a lot», Eremenko said to Sovetsky sport.
Alexey Eremenko played for Russia’s Saturn Ramenskoe in 2006-2009. He then moved to the Ukrainian club Metallist, who later loaned him out to FF Jaro of Finland and Kilmarnock of the Scottish Premier League.
Meanwhile, Roman Eremenko’s transfer, thought to be worth €13 million and to increase the player’s salary by 3.5 times, is in danger of falling through. Though the clubs have already signed the transfer contract, Dynamo still refuses to submit the player’s transfer sheet to Rubin until the transfer funds are credited to their account in full, Dynamomania reported. As the transfer window in Russia closes on August 31, Rubin’s failure to receive the document will mean that Eremenko will be unable to feature for the club in the Russian league and the UEFA Europa League.
