Yury Zhirkov officially moves from Chelsea to Anzhi for €15m

After a week of rumors linking Chelsea’s Yury Zhirkov to Anzhi Makhachkala, the 28-year-old defender finally joined the Russian club. According to the information that become available to Sports.ru, the transfer amount made €15 million. Zhirkov signed a four-year contract.

The halfback has already arrived to Makhachkala and has been officially presented as a new signing today at the stadium, where his new team take on Tom Tomsk within the framework of Russian Premier League Matchday 19.

«I am very glad to be here, in Makhachkala, and frankly I didn’t expect to be received so well. It’s like a dream! I hope to appear in the field already in the match against Spartak, especially as I managed to score a nice goal against them back when I was a Chelsea player,» Zhirkov said as quoted by Anzhi official site.
