Caicedo signs four-year contract with Lokomotiv, club’s president calls Levante ‘unprofessional’
Locomotiv Moscow have confirmed the transfer of Levante UD forward Felipe Caicedo. The Ecuador national team striker has signed a four-year agreement with the Russian club.
Caicedo will arrive to Moscow on August 1 and may make his debut on August 7, when Lokomotiv will play Krylia Sovetov at home, the official site of the Russian club reported.
Lokomotiv president Olga Smorodskaya has also revealed that the negotiations on the transfer of Caicedo had been difficult because of the attitude of the Spanish club.
«This deal was very difficult for us due to the unprofessional and inadequate position of Levante. Its directors seemed to have a very poor knowledge of FIFA’s regulations, as they have been insisting on things forbidden by those regulations. As a result we had to explain everything to them and give legal substantiations to each of our steps in order to sign a contract that would be consistent with the law.
«In this hard situation with Levante the player himself had a firm and clear position. He has made it clear right from the start that he wanted to leave and that he would only go to Lokomotiv. To a great extent this was the thing that made Levante study the regulations, which let us to complete this deal eventually,»Smorodskaya said as quoted by RIA Novosti.
