Investigative committee won’t start criminal proceedings on ‘Lazovic case’

The Investigative Committee of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast has completed the check on the case concerning the alleged infliction of bodily harm to Zenit St. Petersburg player Danko Lazovic after the Russian Premier League match against Volga Nizhny Novgorod (2:0) on June 19.

It should be reminded that the Petersburg club had been claiming that one of the local riot police officers struck the Serbian forward with a stun gun after he ran up to the sector with his club’s fans to throw his shirt to the stands.

However, both the directors of Volga and the representatives of the local riot police department had been claiming that no electric shocker was used against Lazovic and that his injury, revealed during medical examination, was caused by an armchair thrown from the stands.

As a result of the check, the Investigative Committee made a decision to refuse opening the criminal case for the lack of corpus delicti, according to Sovetsky Sport.
