Alexander Medvedev: Russia’s leaders decided to return our players from America
Head of the KHL Alexander Medvedev has declared that the leadership of the Russian Federation has already made a decision to gradually return Russian players from the NHL back home.
«Players do not fall from the sky right into the national team. They come there from the KHL and the NHL. It would be good if the players of our league could make a competition to those playing in America. Especially as there are fewer and fewer Russians in the NHL every year. And there is already a decision made by the country’s leaders to return our players from across the ocean.
«Many of them have left for there, having an effective contract with a Russian club. The list is extensive, it inludes Varlamov, Tikhonov, Filatov, and many others. These are all young talented players. If they cannot return to their old club, let them play at another one. It does not break the KHL regulations,» stated Medvedev to Sovetsky Sport.
