Volga sack head coach Tetradze, Cheryshev chosen as successor
Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast Valery Shantsev has confirmed the reports on the dismissal of Volga’s head coach Omari Tetradze and has explained the reasons of this decision.
«Volga has had a successful start in the Premier League, won several games, but then began to lose match after match. The worst thing are not the defeats, but rather the characterless game, which depends on the team’s head coach. Last match ended with a 2:4 loss and you could feel it: the team was passive, unable to put up resistance and show team spirit. If there was some resistance, then the coach could be trusted,» stated Shantsev according to Sport-Express.
Tetradze’s successor has been already chosen. This afternoon Volga’s board of directors agreed to appoint as head coach Dmitry Cheryshev, former Russian national team and Sporting Gijon striker, who lately has been working as sports director at First Division side Sibir Novosibirsk.
