Felipe Caicedo again linked with move to Lokomotiv Moscow
Levante forward Felipe Caicedo has confirmed the information that he would leave his current club during the summer transfer window.
«Spain was and will be a priority for me. I want to stay in La Liga, but life doesn’t always go the way you’d like it to go. Sometimes there are circumstances forcing you to alter your decision. Anyway, this season has become the best in my career,» stated Caicedo as quoted by AS.
According to the Spanish newspaper, in the summer Caicedo may move to a Russian or Turkish side. It is believed that Lokomotiv Moscow are the main candidate for the Ecuadorian attacker.
It’s worth noting that according to information available to Sports.ru, Lokomotiv already tried to bring in Caicedo for €7.5 million last winter.
The negotiations between the clubs went on until the closing hours of the Russian transfer window, i.e. midnight of March 11. Lokomotiv’s representative was waiting at the House of Football until late night, being ready to register the new player. However, having learnt that the transfer window in Russia was just about to be closed, Levante management increased Caicedo’s price by several million Euro. The Russian club refused to pay more and rejected the deal.
Interestingly enough, Caicedo’s current club has only one day to buy out his transfer rights, which are still owned by Manchester City. The English club is reportedly ready to let Caicedo go for €1 million.
