Russian men’s and women’s first teams announced, Tchoudov and Iourieva left out

The coaching staff of the Russian national team has announced the names of the biathletes included in the men’s and women’s first teams for the next season, as reported by Sports.ru’s Pavel Kopachev.

The ten sportswomen to prepare under women’s senior coach Wolfgang Pichler will be Anna Bogaliy-Titovets, Ekaterina Glazyrina, Uliana Denisova, Olga Zaitseva, Yana Romanova, Evgenia Sedova, Svetlana Sleptsova, Natalia Sorokina (Guseva), Anastasia Tokareva, and Ekaterina Yurlova.

The eight men to prepare with the first Russian national team will be Ivan Tcherezov, Evgeny Ustyugov, Anton Shipulin, Maxim Maximov, Andrey Makoveev, Alexey Volkov, Evgeny Garanichev, and Timofey Lapshin.

Much to the public’s surprise Maxim Tchoudov wasn’t included into the first team. «Tchoudov will be in reserve. As soon as he completes his rehabilitation course, we will look and see in what team he will be – the first one or the second», said the head coach of the Russian national team Valery Polkhovsky.

The places and dates of the first teams’ training camps have also been revealed.

Men’s team will have training camps from May 15 to May 28 in Tyumen, Russia, from June 7 to June 27 in Vuokatti, Finland, from July 7 to 27 in Otepaa, Estonia. Then the team will move to Obertilliach and Ramsau, Austria (firm dates still unknown). After that there will be a training camp in Tyumen, where the Russian summer biathlon championship will be held, and then the move to Ufa.

The women’s team’s camps have been scheduled from May 15 to May 21st in Cyprus, from May 21 to June 5 in Ruhpolding, Germany, from June 19 to June 26 again in Ruhpolding, from June 26 to July 3 in Toblach, Italy, after which the team will return to Ruhpolding. A training camp in France is scheduled from July 24, another one will be in Ruhpolding from August 14 to August 28, and then the team will stay in Tyumen, Russia, for 24 days.
