Anna Khmelevskaya - NCAA prospect
DATE: 14/03/2013
SCOUT: Alexander Spirin
PLAYER ANNA KHMELEVSKAYA#: BORN 1994
SCHOOL/TEAM:ROSTOVON DON/ SPARTA & K ( Second/Junior team)
HEIGHT: 176 cm/5’8’’ WEIGHT:66 kg/ … lbs , POSITION: Combo Guard
BODY/ATHLETICISM: - Physically strong enough, you can call her athletic for women’s basketball, but she feels confident and comfortable within contact basketball.
SHOOTING: Long range stable shooter, possesses extra fast footwork before release stage (spacing plus shooting process).
Shoots from any place outside 3 point line, though jump shot is not really developed and widely used. She can shoot after coming up from the baseline to the arc, can shoot after spacing in the corner. Looks like she feels where the basket is and needs no extra look in that direction before shooting. Sometimes her shots may look crazy and not suitable for the moment but she makes the basket almost every time.
POSITION OFFENSE: Tireless runner with excellent transition skills, does not sit really low but that doesn’t affect her speed dribble with eyes up. She runs nonstop starting fast breaks herself, making assists and finishing them from coast to coast.
Tends to drive the right side (doesn’t use left side penetrations) making her way to the basket. “Score -first , pass- second” while playing combinations in positional offense, but she doesn’t look selfish and shares the ball consistently. (On the left side before catching the ball her legs are loaded either for driving or shooting.
Passes inside often. Has two hand and weak (left) hand long pass.
Tends to stay on the left side of paint to drive in the right direction. Produces a threat to the basket when with the ball, can dribble against her type of players, good feeling for when to penetrate, good passer, always ready to play pick and roll and free the paint for the guards. Has to work more on setting screens.
DEFENSE/REBOUNDING: She constantly directs her opponents to traps set by herself and her partners. She likes to cover or help double teaming to steal from the bigger girls. Just knows the right time to join her partner to an opponents’ surprise. This often works out…. Good footwork helps to avoid screens while keeping herself in front of the dribbler or other PG/SG. She is not the rebound girl, just picks up some balls that are within her area or fall from the rim nearby. She needs to add a stronger left hand to her offense arsenal which she lacks now.
OVERALL RATING:. NCAA Division ( Mid to high)1 or 2
Her favorite players are Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi, Alex Shved, Steve Nash, Tony Parker.
