VTB United League president: Six of the clubs in the league have disclosed their budget

The VTB United League president Sergey Ivanov welcomed Russian PBL clubs Spartak Primorye and Triumph Libertsy into the league, but warned they have to live by the VTBUL rules.

«I wouldn’t mind if all ten Russian PBL clubs entered VTB Eastern European league, but they have to do so on our terms. Our conditions include having two Russian-born players on the court at any time, they have to have the necessary infrastructure, two mobile TV stations and the have to disclose their season budget. Six of the clubs have already opened up financially, but we are still waiting on Spartak St. Petersburg and Khimki. Foreign clubs have also applied to enter the VTBUL, but we are still open to suggestions with regards to the format. It is possible we will model the competition on the Adriatic league: clubs would all compete in one league, then they will progress to the play-offs, localised in each country, and there would be a mixed system of representation in the European competitions,» Ivanov said on Russian television.
