Vitaly Petrov: Vettel must try to control his own emotions
Caterham Pilot Vitaly Petrov commented on the incident involving Sebastian Vettel and HRT-Cosworth driver Narain Karthikeyan during the Malaysian Grand-Prix.
Vettel was running fourth in the race when he collided with Karthikeyan, who was a lap behind the German, collecting a right-rear puncture that dropped him out of the top 10. The German driver was so angered by the episode that he gave his Indian opponent the middle finger, twice, as the replays seem to indicate, and later called him an «idiot» and a «gherkin» during the press-conference.
«Karthikeyan didn’t really do anything criminal, he didn’t hit Vettel or make any sudden turns,» Petrov stated, speaking to R-Sport.
«Sebastian drove past him and started shifting sideways, while the Indian driver was going in a straight line. Vettel should not have said those thing and should have avoided giving his colleague the finger. I know how emotional F1 racing is, but you have to pull yourself together! I think his team will frown upon his behaviour,» the Russian driver added.
«I, too, was a lap ahead of Charles Pic and he blocked my way. I was angry at him, but I knew better than to do anything so silly, as it could cost me,» he recalled.
