2014 Audi R8 Le Mans Cup to be held at Inje Speedium, Korea

2014 Audi R8 Le Mans Cup kicked off on April 5th with an official test weekend in Zhuhai. First race will be held at Inje Speedium racetrack in Korea on May 3-4 weekend. * More info and how to go to Inje: facebook.com/f1koreanfans

Up to 24 cars are expected to compete in the 2014 Audi R8 LMS Cup season. 16 drivers took the opportunity to test in Zhuhai, including some perspective new drivers. Debuting in the Audi GT3 race car were two of Asia's hottest racing talents: 19 year old Aidan Wright from Australia, who won the 2013 Formula Masters, and 18 year old Matt Solomon from Hong Kong, who shared a GT cockpit with former Formula 1 world champion Mika Hakkinen in 2013.   

 

The Audi R8 LMS Cup is the first brand cup of Audi worldwide. The sprint race series expanded in Asia in 2013. This year the competition is scheduled to visit South Korea, Japan, Malaysia and China, including support races for the German Touring Car Championship (DTM) in Guangzhou and for the World Endurance Championship (WEC) in Shanghai, writes official series website audir8lmscup.com.  

Following its successful premiere in China in 2012, the cup is comprised of six race weekends in 2014, and competing for the 2nd time are Audi teams from South Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong which debuted last year.

The Audi R8 LMS (which stands for Le Mans Series) is a GT race car and has already scored more than 100 international victories. Only minimal adjustments will be permitted under the series regulations, allowing pure racing talent to shine. With its Audi Space Frame (ASF) body, the Audi R8 LMS represents Audi ultra, the pioneering lightweight concepts of the German premium car manufacturer.
