How Will The Nuggets Play Their Centers?

The Nuggets have a good problem to have. They have so many centers on the roster, and they are all very good. The Centers are Timofey Mozgov, J.J. Hickson, Jusuf Nurkic, and Javale McGee. The Nuggets have many big bodies and they are going to need to figure out a plan to utilize them all.

My prediction for next season is that Mozgov is the starter. He averaged 9 points per game last year and 6 boards. Mozgov was a pretense on defense, and is clearly the best overall center on the team. I see J.J. Hickson getting more minutes as a power forward behind Kenneth Faried. Hickson is more of a scorer, so he should not intrude on the other centers minutes.

This is where things get tricky. Jusuf Nurkic has been special this summer playing in Europe and it will be hard for the Nuggets not to play him. Nurkic can score and play defense, but he doesn’t have much experience. The last center is JaVale McGee. McGee only played a few games last season due to injury. He has been inconsistent throughout his career and I am predicting that he is either traded this season or doesn’t see the floor that much for Denver.
