New Chase format 2014 The number of drivers qualifying for the Chase Grid will expand from 12 to 16. Fifteen of the 16 slots in the Chase Grid are reserved for the drivers with the most race wins over the first 26 races. The remaining spot is reserved for the points leader after 26 races, if that driver does not have a victory. The Chase will be divided into four rounds. After each of the first three rounds, the four Chase Grid drivers with the fewest season points are eliminated from the Grid and championship contention.

BTW, imho, current 2012 F-1 pts-system is one of the worst in racing and same is about F-1 1991-system (10-6-4-3-2-1). The best of F-1 systems is 2003 Top-8 (10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1). But one of CART systems is better: Top-12 (20-16-14-12-10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1). And one of MotoGP systems is much better than current F1, but starts from same 25: Top-15 (25-20-16-13-11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1) As we can easy calc: 25-5, 20-4, 16-3, 13-2, 11-1, etc.
