Anzhi aim to get Zenit’s Roman Shirokov instead of Gennaro Gattuso
Anzhi Makhachkala still have not made a formal offer to AC Milan about their midfielder Gennaro Gattuso. The Rossoneri planned to define their transfer policy for this summer until May 31. Thus, unless anything extraordinary happens, Gattuso will arrive to the AC Milan camp and will begin to prepare for next season at the Italian club.
At the same time, the Caucasian club is reportedly interested in Zenit St. Petersburg and Russian national team midfielder Roman Shirokov, according to Sport-Express. His current contract with Zenit lasts until the end of 2011 and talks about its renewal are currently put on hold. After July 1 the player will have the right to conduct formal negotiations with other clubs.
However, the player himself denied any negotiations with Anzhi. ««The rumors about Anzhi being interested in me are just rumors. Nobody from Anzhi contacted me or the club, as far as I know! All the questions should be addressed to those who published it! As for the renewal of contract with Zenit, you’d better ask the club management about it,» wrote Shirokov in his Twitter.
